We were asked for a cleaning method for a decommissioned plastic moulding machine which had never been cleaned and had been in operation for around 20 years. The use of water was severely limited due to the oil bilges below the machine and the fact that it was on a working machine shop floor.
PROBLEM: plastic granules and dust had mixed with oils and greases over the years to form an almost insoluble and impenetrable coating over the machine. In addition, oil absorbing granules weren’t working and any previous attempts to remove soiling with a steamer or solvents had failed.
SOLUTION: we were able to clean the machine to perfection using the minimum of water but we knew just what detergents would work on this type of soiling and how they should be used. We left a very satisfied customer with a full cleaning schedule for all the rest of his machines when they were in turn brought down
